Continued Closure

Further to today’s announcement, Hampshire will remain in Tier 4 for another 2 weeks. However, we expect to remain in Tier 4 until the end of January.

Further updates will be issued when we have more information.

Stay safe, and have a Happy New Year!

A warm welcome to the new Head Coach!

The committee of Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club are delighted to announce the appointment of our new Head Coach – Scott Buchan!

Scott swam for Andover many years ago and we are delighted that he is joining us to provide us with his experience. His aim is to ensure that all swimmers have enough pool time and the tools needed to achieve their full potential.
As some of you may be aware, he also coaches at Hart Swimming Club and aims to combine coaching at both clubs. This means that he won’t be present at every session, but will get feedback on how the sessions have gone.
“I am really impressed with the commitment of the club’s committee, coaching team, and volunteers all pulling together in order to get swimming back up and running as quickly as possible. We are currently living in new and strange times for us all. No one has a magic wand and no one can predict what will happen in the future, all we can do is work together.” – Scott

ASWPC are returning to the pool!

All swimmers will shortly be receiving an email with the details of how ASWPC are returning to the pool.  You must read ALL of the information contained in your email before coming to the pool, and have completed a health declaration form.

Our Welfare Officer is Sharon Kirwan, and she has kindly taken on the role of Covid Officer for the club too.  If you have any concerns relating to the club’s response to Covid, you can contact her at mailto:welfare@andoverswimming.co.uk.

Letter from Chairman

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are well and taking this very unique time in our lives to try something different whether that be cooking, learning a new language, growing something or just looking at what is in our gardens.

I appreciate that you must be very frustrated by not being able to get into the pool, however Swim England have indicated that it may not be long before we can resume in some form. We are awaiting the next update from Swim England on the 15th June and subsequent government guidance. As soon as we know anything, we will let you know.

With the future in mind, please see attached letter from one of our coaches, Scott.

In the meantime, you will find the results of the one hour swim challenge that was held earlier in the year, and the national placings for individuals and teams on our website www.andoverswimming.co.uk We had 21 top ten placings overall, with one individual and four teams achieving medal placings. Well done all!

Finally, to refresh your swimming knowledge, I have attached a quiz. Get your swimmer(s) to complete the quiz and return it to me before the 20th June to be in with a chance of winning: a £15 Gift card, a £10 voucher to spend on ASWPC club kit, or an ASWPC swim hat. Prizes will be awarded to each squad (Competitive, Development, and Learn to compete).

We very much look forward to working with all our swimmers, pool side helpers, coaches and teachers in the months ahead to resume swimming in a safe manner; It hopefully won’t be long.

Please do look after yourselves and everyone around you.

Kindest regards,

Chris Dewey

One Hour Swim Challenge (UPDATE)

The overall results from the One Hour Swim Challenge we completed earlier in the year have now been published.  We did really well against other swimmers from around the country, with quite a few top 10 placings from both individuals and team entries.  Those who achieved top 3 placings will receive medals later in the year.  Well done to all.

See the results page for the updated results including national placings.
